Looking for something fun AND educational for your kids to do this summer? Join us at the Simeone for a unique, exclusive experience!
For the first time ever, we are opening up our world-famous collection to our youngest fans and giving them a once-in-a-lifetime experience that they will never forget. This July, our brand new, hands on S.T.E.A.M. camp revs up with exciting projects and a behind the ropes study of the coolest cars on the planet!
For those unfamiliar, S.T.E.A.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. It is one of the newest educational approaches designed to foster a deeper love and appreciation for scientific based learning. Many people might be more familiar with S.T.E.M., but here at the Simeone Museum we use the artistry in our collection to tie each of those scientific disciplines together! Camp attendees will cover all five topics as we explore our collection and complete projects that hone their skills building to an unforgettable final day grand finale – a CO2 powered race car competition.
Each camper will design, build, and race their very own CO2 powered race car using a variety of materials including foam blocks, cardboard, and plastic wheels while incorporating the fundamentals of S.T.E.A.M. education learned throughout the week. Powered by CO2, on a purpose built track, each camper’s individually designed and engineered race car will compete for our first-ever “Spirit of Competition” award while achieving speeds up to and possibly exceeding 70 MPH.
(Each day includes design and testing of CO2 dragsters)
