When the sun goes down, the doors of Glen Foerd will be open to those brave enough to enjoy Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.

Now celebrating its 30th year in publication, this legendary book series records America's favorite pieces of spine-chilling folklore. To bring these stories to life, the mansion will be transformed into an immersive storytelling theater where Tome Wilson from The Mill Race Theatrical Company (millracetheatricalcompany.com) will be performing three different tales of terror. Throughout the night, guests will be guided from room to room by candlelight to share in the spirit of the season.

To help you enjoy the event, we will have light snacks, Halloween candy, seasonal drinks, and adult beverages for sale in our concessions area.

FAQs
###

1) Is this a haunted house where people jump out with chainsaws and things like that?

No. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is a theatrical event that blends dramatic storytelling with high-tech projections and special effects to immerse our audience in a world of haunted folklore.

2) Will tickets be available at the door?

Tickets may be available at the door ($25 adults / $15 children), but we expect the event to sell out very quickly due to the limited number of seats available. To guarantee your spot, we strongly advise guests to purchase their tickets in advance.

3) Is my ticket good for the later shows if I miss my showtime?

No. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is tailored to a very small number of guests and we expect every seat will be reserved in advance. By missing your timeslot, you are taking away a seat from someone who may have wanted to come. If seats are still available for later shows, they can be purchased at the door, but the original ticket is non-transferable and only refundable 7 days before the event.

4) Can I bring my own food?

We don't mind if you bring snacks, but please keep in mind that the audience size is very small and the rooms are going to be very quiet. The sounds of crunching and crinkling will detract from the show, so please be courteous.

5) Can I BYOB?

We ask that you leave wine, beer, and liquor at home. Not only does your patronage at Glen Foerd help support very unique events like Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, but you need to remember that the show takes place inside a priceless historic site. Our staff is trained to keep guests from over-imbibing so everyone can enjoy the event accident-free.

6) Is this event kid friendly?

«Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark» is not recommended for younger children. The subject matter is similar in tone to other young-adult horror anthologies such as «Goosebumps» and «Are You Afraid of the Dark.» If your child is easily frightened, it may be a good night to find a babysitter.

7) How accessible is the Glen Foerd mansion?

While we do what we can to accommodate all guests, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark will require guests to climb stairs. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

8) Is there parking on-site?

Yes. There will be parking on-site for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Glen Foerd is also two blocks from Torresdale Station if you prefer to take the train or bus.

9) Are there be discounted tickets available?

Discount codes are available for Glen Foerd members and for groups of 10 or more guests. Please contact [email protected] for more details.
